Lead Warning
Ripping, tearing, sawing and sanding materials covered with lead-based paint can release the lead into the building and present an increased hazard. To avoid this, some folks have doors and woodwork removed and professionally stripped to remove the paint. While this seems logical and safe, the woodwork can still harbor lead. When stripped woodwork is sanded back at the work site (for example, your house) and prepped for painting, the lead hazard can still be present. Be cautious when working with lead-based paint; you may be making a problem when you thought you were fixing one.
